If you’ve decided to begin a relationship with Jesus and to follow Him, you’ve begun the most incredible adventure. It will transform your life in amazingly wonderful ways. These are a few things that will be important to begin to incorporate into your new life with Christ.
If you’ve never read the Bible before, don’t worry. It’s not hard and reading it regularly will absolutely change your life. If you have a Bible you can understand, wonderful. If you don’t, there are a lot of great translations available but we especially like the NIV Student Bible. It’s understandable and has lot of great background stories and information about each passage or chapter you’ll read. If you don’t have a Bible and can’t get one, let us know and we’ll do everything we can to get one to you.
If the Bible is God talking to us, prayer is our response to Him. As you hopefully found reading The Way Home, prayer isn’t hard – it’s just talking with God. There’s no right or wrong way of praying, and you really only learn to pray by praying. So we encourage you to set aside some time after you read your Bible each day and just tell Jesus what’s on your heart. Talk with Him as you would a friend. Remember Jesus says “Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest.” (Matthew 11:28)
As you may have read in The Way Home, the path of faith isn’t one we can walk alone. We need others with like hearts around us, guiding and encouraging us as we go.
So if you have family or friends that are going to a local church, attend with them. Make it a habit. If there are youth, young adults or small groups there, we encourage to join one of those too.
If you need help finding a church, send us a message through our website and our team can suggest some great options for community near you.
Again, know that we’re so excited for you want to help you get started on your wonderful journey of faith with Jesus!
In addition to the Bible, there are incredible books you can read that will also help you grow in your walk with Jesus. Just click the Further Reading tab and you’ll find books that we’re sure will both help answer questions you might have, as well as helping to make your relationship with Jesus grow stronger and stronger.
